Dr. Mark Povroznik graduated from WVU School of Pharmacy in 1992 and then completed a Hospital Residency at West Virginia University Hospital (WVUH) in 1993 with a focus on infectious disease, followed by a PharmD degree from WVU School of Pharmacy in 1995. Upon completion, Dr. Povroznik established a pharmacy based infectious disease service and grew a clinical pharmacy program at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, WV. His career path blended with Quality Improvement in 2003 and presently serves as the Vice-President of Quality with responsibilities for Performance Improvement, Patient Safety, Hospital Accreditation, Infection Control, Case Management, Data Management and Clinical Pharmacy. Dr. Povroznik serves as chairman of the Infection Control committee and continues to lead antibiotic stewardship. His efforts to modify and change the face of Quality have been marked by numerous awards and accolades. With a love for teaching, his career thus far has delivered over 600 continuing education programs, and serves as adjunct faculty to the Department of Family Medicine residency program. He and his team have led UHC along the path of Quality Improvement bringing recognition for hospital-wide performance improvement initiatives. For his accomplishments, he was inducted to the WVU School of Pharmacy Centennial Hall of Fame in 2014. Mark is the proud husband of Dr. Lisa Povroznik, Director of Pharmacy for Grafton City Hospital, and father to 14-year-old Hannah Marie and 11-year-old Sarah Kaitlyn.
